Catch the obsession of fly fishing – the enjoyment of a lifetime!
Discover the essence of fly fishing and enjoy a lifetime of excitement. This course is designed for those with little or no fishing experience. Our knowledgeable instructors with many years of experience will offer the basics of rods, lines, leaders, hooks and flies, along with fly casting techniques, tackle and rod assembly, basic knot tying, how to properly release your catch, and the life cycles of aquatic insects. On Saturday we will be on stream fly fishing. Our goal is for you to learn the basics to enjoy fly fishing on your own. Cost of the course includes use of equipment, but we encourage you to bring your own.
YOU MUST HAVE A VALID NEW YORK STATE FISHING LICENSE.
Instructors: Joel Davis & Helen Davis: Joel is avid fly fisherman for trout and steelhead. He has taught fly tying and fly fishing for the last 40 years. Having held offices of Treasurer and Director of the Red House Brook Chapter of Trout Unlimited, he is a dedicated conservationist. Joel organized the Holiday Valley Fly Fishing Program and is founder and Managing Partner of Trout “R” Us Fly Fishing School.
Joel introduced Helen to fly-fishing before they were married. She has been his fishing partner ever since. Both he and Helen have conducted fly-fishing seminars at Holiday Valley in Ellicottville, New York and the Fly Fishing Assembly at the Chautauqua Institution.
